Comprehensive Practicum Opportunities for Master and Bachelor Level Social Work Students


Students will gain valuable experience in any or all of the following areas:

  • Biopsychosocial Assessments
  • Resource Coordination
  • The Leader Foundation
  • Home Health Social Services
  • Psychotherapy
  • Educational Seminars
  • Community Involvement

MSW Level Students 


Biopsychosocial Assessments

Students will have the opportunity to conduct and score biopsychosocial assessments on clients. Assessments include:

  • Demographic Information
  • Social History
  • Medical Diagnosis and Medication Use
  • Spiritual Assessments
  • ADL/IADL Assessments
  • Mental Health Assessments
  • Cognitive Assessments
  • Psychosocial Assessment 

Based on these assessments, students will be expected to create care plans and hold family/client meetings to discuss and determine implementation of the care plans.


Psychotherapy

Students may have the opportunity to participate in psychotherapy sessions with clients.


Home Health Services 
Students will have the opportunity to conduct home health social services assessments with their supervisor. Students will be expected to provide connection during the visit, as well as, any follow-up resource coordination. 



Student Internship Program

Internship work will be a combination of administrative tasks, research, as well as, shadowing and assisting staff social workers. 

How to Apply


Call our office to request an application. If there is a position available, you will have the opportunity to interview with a social worker.


The number of hours worked will vary based on your schedule and university requirements. Typically students work 15-20 hours per week. At this time, all internships are unpaid.

MSW and BSW Level Students 


Resource Coordination

Students will have the opportunity to connect our clients with needed resources and coordinate services between the various agencies and systems to ensure the needed services are implemented.


The Leader Foundation

Students will have the opportunity to conduct bi-annual financial and psychosocial assessments wit a low-income elderly population. Practicum students will also assist with resource connection and coordination for this client population.


Home Health Services 

BSW level students will have the opportunity to shadow and provide assistance to their supervisor on home health social service visits. Students will be expected to provide connection during the visit, as well as, any follow-up resource coordination. 


Educational Seminars

Students will be expected to create and/or contribute to the various educational seminars provided by Decision Point Consulting, Inc. to other social service agencies, professional, and companies in Missouri.


Community Involvement

Students will have the opportunity to attend and/or participate in various state-wide committees and boards. In additional to being educational, these connections will provide valuable networking opportunities with other social service professionals.
